CRESTLINE, CA – An inmate who walked away from Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) Pilot Rock Conservation Camp on Nov. 6 was apprehended this afternoon.

Jack Wyatt was located in the city of Glendora and taken into custody without incident by CDCR Special Service Unit agents, along with the assistance of the Long Beach and Glendora Police Departments. Wyatt will be transported to California Institution for Men, and his case will be referred to the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office for consideration of escape charges. He will no longer be eligible to serve his time in a conservation camp.

Wyatt, 29, was discovered missing from the camp at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. He was received by CDCR from Los Angeles County in June 2016 with a five-year sentence for second-degree robbery with a firearm.

OCS’s mission is to protect the public and serve CDCR investigative and security interests. OCS is the primary departmental link with allied law enforcement agencies and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
